Week 6 (9th March)

Article: “Help for single mums in downturn” – ‘Main’ Section (Pg A4-5)

Question 1:
What project was launched to help single mums? Briefly explain what is this project about?

Question 2:
Imagine you come across a single mum who is unemployed, what are some advice you can give her? Who can she turn to?
The WeCare for U project was launched to help single mums. this project is about helping divorcees ,widows and other single mothers wno not only have atougher time juggling work and family but find it hard to get help . When we come across a single mum who is unemployed we could give her advices on how to get maybe her in laws to take care of her children while she is out doing her part time or full time job . this way she could put her mind in ease as a mothers greatest worry would be their children. they can also consider taking jobs in the morning so that when their child is schooling they do not have to worry because when they finish their job in the afternoon they can come home in time to pick up thier children and send them for lunch and also take care of them till the night. she can turn to her neighbours or friends to help take care of them. she can also turn to her in laws for help as most of them are retired ,they would have nothing to do and worry about so they can help take care of the children .

(a) Is it very stressful being a student in Singapore? Explain.
(b) What are some problems you face as a student which adds to your stress level?


Yes,it is stressful to be a student in Singapore . In Singapore we have to meet the expectations everyday as each year singapore's standard of education increases . We have to study and revise everyday so as to remember what we learn everyday. We are so busy or cooped up with our schedule that we have lesser time for fun each day as each day draws nearer to an important examination which could create an impact in our lives or for the rest of our lives . Students in Singapore are worried all the time about how they should spend their time studying and finding ways to help them study . There could be lots of problems that adds to our stress levels like , heavy parental control , too much homework and revision to do , having to be scold most frequently of the day , not having enough entertainment and most of all being very tired after a long day of study.
